PLATFORMS
What is a platform?
A platform is basically a problem that you would like to solve or improve if you are elected, and is something you would like to focus on as KYA governor to make sure the problem is addressed.
Platform 1-to improve safety in schoolsWe can never have enough safety in schools, and we need to make sure there are as few incidents as possible, whether is something major such as a shooting in a school, or even just cracking down on bullying. This platform would make it to where all schools would have to have at least one person acting as a security guard of some sort for the school, with formal training. Not only would this improve safety in schools, but this would also create multiple jobs. Schools are just too vulnerable to any sorts of violence, and we need to make sure that we keep violence out of schools to the best of our abilities. |
platform 2-increase the number of no kill animal shelters
Every year, millions of animals are euthanized, or put down, by animal shelters. On average, 2.7 million animals are euthanized yearly in shelters. This is done because the shelters don't have the space or resources to provide for all these animals, and they usually don't have the resources due to low funding and the community is unaware that they need more. That is why this platform would help animal shelters take the steps where they become no kill shelters, which are shelters that have the space and resources to where they don't have to put down any animals. shelters would gain more money through donations and a small amount of extra money from the government (small enough to where it wouldn't make a difference to the governments budget, but would have large impact on shelters) This would also help raise awareness to shelters, which would lead to more donations.
Platform 3-Reduce smoking rates in ky
Did you know that smoking kills more people than HIV, Drugs, alcohol, gun related incidents, and motor vehicle incidents all combined? Even with these awful statistics, smoking continues to be major problem, especially in Kentucky. Kentucky has the highest smoking rates in the U.S., with over 28% of adults smoking in the state, which is over 900,000 people. that means that those 900,000 people are all more at risk to get deadly diseases, ranging from lung diseases to multiple types of cancer. We MUST reduce smoking rates in Kentucky, which would save thousands of lives. If something isn't done, thousands of people will continue to put themselves at more of a risk. Although there are places where you can receive help with smoking, we will increase the amount of people/places you can talk to, and have people designated to reach out to smokers, encourage them to get one on one help, and increasing the advertising budget for anti-smoking ads in Kentucky. Smoking can be detrimental to peoples health, and we must do more to help those who are smokers,so they can live longer and better lives.
